Safeguarding the Air Quality for Your Children

When it comes to the health of children, every parent wants the absolute best for their kids. Everything from a stable diet to a healthy environment and quality clothing. The one area where parents are at a loss is when it comes to air quality.

As soon as they leave the confines of their homes and enter the outside world, they immerse themselves in a world with poor air quality. Although not every area is equally polluted, it is becoming increasingly difficult to safeguard the air quality of your children.

You cannot be with your kids every second of every day, but you can do several things to ensure that they have the best possible chance at clean air.

Safety gear

When one is outside, there is not much to do about the quality of the air. Face masks have made a surge this year and to good effect as well. There are many different types of face masks around but natural and organic masks have the added benefit of being eco-friendly.

Optimally Organic has quality face masks for sale that are sourced naturally. These masks are multi-use masks that last a long time and also look stylish to boot. Nevertheless, the quality is super and should provide some protection on the outside.

Education

As the saying goes, common sense is not so common. Not many people are educated on how to ventilate a room properly. There are obvious things that one should always do to ensure that the quality of the air inside is a room that is controlled and clean.

For one, smoking inside any building is never a good idea as second-hand smoke hovers and damages your kids’ lungs.

If the airflow is not all that possible, ensure that the house is as clean as possible and dust-free. When working with potentially harmful chemicals, teach your kids to always read the warning labels and keep to their instructions, especially the ones that dictate airflow.

Keeping the dangerous stuff out of reach

There have been countless accidents involving children and toxic chemicals. In most cases, the chemicals were not placed in an area where the kids could not reach them. When it comes to poisonous gasses, parents should take special notice and know that not all poisonous gasses have a bad smell.

Pesticides should always be placed out of reach and in the event that it is used indoors, make sure that the kids are standing far off. Sealing a room off temporarily is always a good idea when you know that there might be some residual chemicals left in the air.

Setting your HVAC system

In some areas, the outside air is highly contaminated, but the houses in these areas are generally fitted with HVAC systems. These systems can be set to keep the outside air out by re-circulating the outside air.

This prevents the outside pollutants from entering the house keeps the air inside fresh. This requires that the house is well sealed off and that there are no open windows either.

Use an indoor air purifier

In the event that outdoor pollutants entered your home, an air purifier is what you need to reverse and clean the contaminated air. To keep the air from being further polluted in the house, fireplace fires and any other flammable objects should not be burned.

Spraying aerosols in the house is also not the greatest idea. In the event that ash and other dust particles need to be removed, then using a vacuum machine with a HEPA filter will keep the particles from becoming airborne again.
